Chair Massage

- Chair Massage -

Chair massage is a style of seated massage typically focusing on the head, back, shoulders, neck, arms, and hands and may be provided in 15-20 minutes. Chair massage is performed while clothed and does not require massage oil.

A chair massage is administered in a special chair with arms supported and face resting in a cradle. The back and neck are completely relaxed while a therapist relieves muscle tension using Swedish techniques such as kneading and compression. Chair massage may be administered in public venues, including the workplace, airports, and spas/resorts/hotels. Contact me today about how to bring therapeutic chair massage to your workplace and how it can greatly benefit you and your employees.

Deep Tissue

- Deep Tissue -

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

Hot Stone Massage

- Hot Stone Massage -

A massage technique that uses heated stones to relax and massage sore muscles. The stones can be used for their heat alone, or as massage tools used in combination with essential oils used in aromatherapy. Basalt rocks are  used because of their heat retention properties, and are usually heated to around 125-150 degrees using hot water. I place stones strategically on certain parts of the body as well as use them to give the massage. This is a very relaxing as well as therapeutic massage and can be performed any time of the year. You have to experience them for yourself, it’s like heaven on earth!

Prenatal Massage

- Prenatal Massage -

Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it’s also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies.  Once you are no longer comfortable or able to lie on your stomach, I will have you in a side lying position, with a pillow between your knees for comfort and support, to effectively massage your back.  While you are on your back for the rest of the massage you will be comfortably supported with a pillow under your head as well as support under the knees.  The only thing I ask is that you consult with your physician before receiving massage while pregnant, especially if you are a high risk pregnancy.  I had prenatal massage performed on myself throughout both of my pregnancies and it helped quite significantly with all the discomforts that come along with it, feet and all!  If you have further questions about prenatal massage, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Swedish

- Swedish -

As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Trigger Point Therapy

- Trigger Point Therapy -

A trigger point is an area of hyperirritability, a palpable nodule, within the muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body.  It is what most would call or describe as a “knot”.  The trigger point could be several inches away from the place where they feel the discomfort or pain.  The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache.

Trigger point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. In this type of massage for trigger point therapy, the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort.

The results and benefits of trigger point massage are releasing constricted areas in the muscles thus alleviating pain. You can experience a significant decrease in pain after just one treatment. Receiving massage with trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help naturally manage pain and stress from chronic injuries.
